Another very competitive market, rental property marketplace market is forced by lots of startups and fast-growing companies such as Airbnb. However, I like HomeAway stock. First, the company doesn't hide any number, any metrics, they are not trying to show themselves better than they are. And this is a big point in the whole technology market. I've reviewed lots of stocks already. Some of the companies try to put the number of customers / subscribers / clients (underline whatever you want) in the text, without any dynamics etc. Others just ignore the business metrics at all (yes, I am talking about Salesforce, which I reviewed yesterday). HomeAway is absolutely transparent in terms of business metrics. The company reported Q3 results around a month ago and announced that it's going to be acquired by Expedia and the stock instantly grew up more than 30%. HomeAway's revenue comes from paid listings. The company is improving the subscription based revenue as well. So, why I do like HomeAway: Number of total paid listings is still growing. And the growth rate is still high - around 15.5%. As of September 2015 the company had around 1,195 paid listings compared to 1,035 listing as of September 2014;Average revenue per subscription is still growing as well. It grew up more than 7% y-o-y;The traffic on their website is growing, which is essential for such kind of business. And the growth rate is increasing: from 16.0% last year to 18.3% this year;Operating income for three months grew up more than 70% and this is a big step forward;LTM EBITDA margin is around 12.6% which is 2% lower than the last year. But in Q3 company increased the margins significantly and if it keeps the same level in Q4, it will be around the same EBITDA margin as it had last year. Due to these reasons Expedia is going to buy this growing business in competitive market. The transaction size is really huge: $3.9B in cash and Expedia's stocks, while the current market cap of HomeAway is around $3.4B. I think that this deal will benefit both businesses and HomeAway will be a good contribution to the Expedia's worldwide company. What do you think about the whole travel market?
