BCE Inc. announced it will pay $3.95 billion to take Bell Aliant private, getting access to is cash flow and bolstering BEC’s position as the largest Canadian telecom company. The deal accounts for the 56% of Bell Aliant that BCE doesn’t already own. Ryan Bushell, a portfolio manager at Leon Fraizer said, “This makes sense given that the regulators are looking to fight consolidation at every turn.”
