In court the executive who manages his holdings said in court, if Donald Sterling doesn't sell the Los Angeles Clippers, he could be forced to sell some of his real estate assets to pay back debt. Darren Schield, is the chief financial officer of Sterling's Beverly Hills Properties testified in court that Sterling's attempt to stop the sale of the team that was brokered by his estranged wife would open the door for banks to call the real estate billionaire's $480 million in liabilities. Schield said, "We would have to start selling our real estate, We'd have no choice." Shelly Sterling's lawyers called Schield to testify, in order to confirm her as having the authority to sell the Clippers to Microsoft's former CEO Steve Ballmer.
