The CEO of American Eagle Robert Hanson is leaving the company, effective immediately. Board Chairman Jay Schottenstein will serve as interim CEO. Before joining American Eagle in 2012, Hanson worked for Levi's, he was considered a rising star in the retail industry. There is no known reason why Hanson left the company, but AE did announced that holiday sales fell 7% this year. Retailers like American Eagle, and Abercrombie & Fitch has seen sales fall amid competition from fast fashion retailers like Forever 21.
