The Conference Board released their monthly report on consumer confidence today today and numbers are down. Consumer confidence dropped to 71.2 in October from a revised 80.2 in September. Analysts were expecting confidence to come in at 75.0 so the number missed expectations by a sizable margin. Consumers also didn't have a positive attitude about their current standing, the present situation index was down to 70.7 in October from 73.5 in September.
