BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) CEO John Chen has so far proven to be a man of his word. He has stopped the company from hemorrhaging cash, slashed expenses to right size the business, and is well on the way to transforming BlackBerry into a software-centric company. I disagree with those who say the hardware offerings need to be jettisoned altogether. A hardcore following after all of these years and an unrivaled platform with respect to security provide reason enough to continue producing smartphones for years to come. Those who continue to write off BlackBerry are doing so without truly looking at the full picture. The opportunity for BlackBerry to succeed as a software-centric company is a path the company is well on its way to achieving. I believe the herd, and many Wall Street analysts are included in this group, is ignoring the catalyst that will provide the next phase of growth for BlackBerry - acquisitions. Read more
