Charter to announce the Time Warner acquisition. The awesome thing is that everyone who held TWC and sold it after the CMCSA failquisition was announced, only to giggle in glee as the antitrust issues took the deal down, pretty much as Fark itself predicted, had a chance to make the same money all over again by buying TWC after the first deal imploded and waiting for someone - anyone - and in this case CHTR, to get the job done. Quibbling about $100/$115 in cash and the rest in stock is immaterial at this point. Yes, rumors are often just a pile of HS, but there was so much HS piled so high and deep over the past week that it was a pretty safe bet that there was a diminutive equine or two around somewhere. To switch metaphors, it's said that the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. While I was in neither of those categories, this was one of those once-in-a-decade opportunities for retail investors to double-dip at the expense of the risk arbitrage crowd, and the headline nailed it. Congratulations to those lucky and/or clever enough to kill it over a long weekend; your profits will cover your cable subscriptions for a lifetime... okay, probably only for a year or two, but still, congrats! You're gonna love it when Time Warner sends you a bill for a different amount each month. I wish I was kidding. same service, different amount every damn time. They also send me a paper bill that doesn't include the deductions for promotions. So I get a paper bill for around $180. If I log on right away it will show a past due, even though it's not plus the BS number. If I wait until the farking day of the billing cycle the past due magically disappears and all of my credits kick in. That number is between $98 and $112. Google fiber can't get here fast enough.
