On Friday, July 22, Indian equities posted gains on the heels of gains in S&P BSE Power, S&P BSE Metals and S&P BSE Capital Goods sectors.By the close, the Nifty 50 rodr 0.37% to 8,541.20, and the BSE Sensex 30 Index added 0.33% to 27,803.24.The day’s standout gainers were Tata Motors (+3.29%), Bharti Infratel (+2.61%) and Zee Entertainment E. (+2.52%).On the downside, Bajaj Auto (-1.80%), ACC (-1.56%) and Bank of Baroda (-1.02%) topped the decliners.Notably, Tata Motors shares reached a 52-week high.Vedanta shares also climbed to a 52-week high, up 7.44% on the day.In the currency market, the USD/INR pair inched down 0.07% to 67.126, while the EUR/INR pair dropped 0.15% to 73.9450.Furthermore, the volatility gauge India Vix, which tracks futures on the Nifty 50, fell 1.37% to 15.4975.The daily chart shows that the BSE Sensex 30 Index continued to trade within a rising band. Stochastic lines are exiting overbought territory, thus implying further corrective movement.
