Fascinating. Before today, I never knew that Caterpillar (CAT), the same company that makes heavy machinery for construction, also was in the electronics business. The phone in the picture above is the CAT S60 mobile phone, and it features a built in thermal camera, letting you see where the hot spots are through infrared. It also features a more rugged exterior body and buttons for the Android (GOOG), (GOOGL) navigation, instead of being forced to touch the screen. So that's pretty cool. In all honesty if I had one of these I'd probably use it to scan strangers and be like "You're hot", but I'm certain that there are people out there who have a legitimate need for something like that. The device is waterproof up to 6 feet, or even deeper if the protective shutter on the camera is closed. The overall heavy-dutyness of the device should appeal to anyone with a labor intensive job. I confess that I'm a little bit lazy when it comes to investing. Usually I am able to tell if the stock is a good value just from reading the consolidated financial statements. Typically just from that I can tell if the company is worth investing in, and that work can be done in about 2 minutes. I buy in if it looks like a good deal. From there I gradually learn more about the company and it's competitors, and occasionally will find a better company, but this makes sure that I don't lose the opportunity while I'm learning more. The stock closed down today $1.14 to $66.12. I am long the shares.
