Lots of websites around the web are experiencing technical difficulties today: massive DDOS attack is going on. There is no doubt that it might cost a lot for the companies whose business model depends on the online traffic. Twitter is one of the examples, their website is down for more than 5 hours as of now, so we can calculate how much money it will cost them.According to the most recent earnings release, Twitter's quarter revenue is around $602M, which is equal to around $6.7M per one day. So Twitter is down for 5 hours, so it will cost the company $1.4M of unearned revenue. That's not that much, but can you imagine the total impact of this DDOS attack for all the companies that have been affected. It might be even $100M and higher. This is really difficult to blame somebody for that, because we can't be 100% sure. From the financial point of view, this is a huge damage. Post in the comments your thoughts about the reason of this attack and, of course, who's behind it.
