JetBlue (JBLU) once again has revealed their new product called "Mint", which are lie-flat seats as well as personal suites only JFK-LAX flights starting next summer. These guys have been successful with one-class cabins, but it clearly needed more to compete with the US transcontinental market. For this flight route, JetBlue will have a sub-fleet of 11 brand new Airbuses, each with 16 lie-flat seats, and 143 enhanced coach seats. It is their plan to offer Mint in all their 7 daily flights from JFK to LAX airports. By early 2015, they are looking to have Mint on all 5 JKF-SFO flights. They commented that it is possible to add Mint onto other routes, but that will depend on customer response as well as demand. With certainty, JBLU's CEO believes that this product will be superior to other airlines' 1st and business class service, while remaining affordable. Their idea of affordable is $599 for one-way flights. Not only that, the customers will also get a pre-departure drink and will be able to customize their in-flight meal by choosing amongst many styles of dishes. Cool!
