Disney's (NYSE: DIS) "Avengers: Age of Ultron" debuted in the United States this weekend, topping box office sales expectations, generating $186.7 million, according to ABC. This makes the film the second highest grossing film on opening weekend in history, falling second only to the first "Avengers" movie in 2012. According to ABC, representatives at Disney are very happy with this number, considering the competition the film faced in an entertainment-heavy weekend. Among competition from other films at the box office, "Age of Ultron" also went up against the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight and The Kentucky Derby. "We're in rare air here," said Disney's Head of Distribution David Hollis. "Having the second biggest opening weekend in the history of the movie business is always going to be something you walk away overwhelmingly happy with. The momentum of the brand for Marvel at this point is really something to take a step back and admire."
