Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. RCL, the Miami-based cruise line, recently added its 24th ship to its fleet. The newest member in its family is called Ovation of the Seas. Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean took the official delivery of Ovation of the Seas from Bernard Meyer, Managing Partner of Meyer Werft Yard. Meyer Werft Yard, the world's leading builder of luxury passenger ships has also built two other Royal Carriebean’s Quantum-brand ships known as Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas.Ovation of the Seas is targeted for the China market. According to Forbes, the China cruise market in the region will be the second largest by 2017. Bringing their newest and most technologically advanced ship to China will cement Royal Caribbean’s leadership position in this area.Royal Caribbean has increased its capacity in the Asia-Pacific region to take advantage of the increased demand for cruising in Southeast Asia and China.. The majority of the capacity growth has been recorded in the Asia-Pacific region in recent times. With recent fleet launches, the company expects to meet this requirement.Despite the economic slowdown in China, the demand for cruising hasn’t been impacted much.
